BECOME A PARK STEWARD

JASPER'S DOG PARK, A PARK SUSTAINED ONLY BY YOUR PARTICIPATION

Jasper's Dog Park is maintained by the dog owners who use it through our Park Stewardship Team. Park Maintenance is not provided by the City of Kirkland.

HOW DOES A PARK STEWARD HELP?

There are a variety of ways a park steward can help. A park steward is a regular Jasper's Dog Park visitor who monitors the condition of the park and reports problems to the Park Steward Chair. Here are some of the ways a park steward can help:

  • Checking waste bag supply and re-supplying as needed
  • Examining condition of fences and making repairs
  • Monitoring the grounds for wear and erosion, filling in holes, looking for blackberry shrub re-growth, filling wet areas with sand or other treatment, etc.

A steward may be responsible for taking the trash cans out to the curb for trash pick up weekly.
A steward sets a good example for others by picking up "orphaned poop" and litter.
A steward helps educate others about our park rules.
A steward manages the bulletin board and removes any flyers taped up around the park. To keep litter at a minimum and respect our donors, the only advertising allowed at the park by businesses is through park sponsorship signs.
A park steward becomes involved in park improvement projects as scheduled.
A park steward helps raise funds for the routine projects and improvements made at the park.

There is an opportunity for everyone to help. First, please contact  us at kdog@kdog.org to let us know how you'd like to get involved volunteering.  Then, please fill out the City of Kirkland's ongoing volunteer form here.
